What happened?

Starting on the evening of Friday, 12 July, work was carried out on the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station. This required heavy machinery to be placed on the A10. As a result, the A10 Zuid was closed for the whole weekend. Of course, prior investigations had been carried out to ensure that the road could support the huge cranes. These revealed no specific risks. However, after the machinery was removed, there appeared to have been subsidence of around 15 cm where the crane had been located for pile-driving and the removal of sheet piling from the ground. There is damage to three carriageways. All four carriageways will need to close to enable the repairs to be carried out.

A temporary speed limit of 70 km/h will apply next to Amsterdam Zuid station.
