Until mid-2026, Piet Kranenbergpad will be used as an access road leading to and from the construction sites for the reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer junction. This will result in quite a few changes. So, what can you expect in the upcoming period?
12-8 to 2-9: complete closure of Piet Kranenbergpad
Piet Kranenbergpad will be completely closed between IJsbaanpad to the north, and Skûtsjespad to the south of the A10 Zuid. During this time, we will be setting up the construction road across Piet Kranenbergpad. Cyclists will be diverted via IJsbaanpad, Amstelveenseweg and Skûtsjespad or Pramenpad and in the opposite direction.
From Friday, 30 August (23.00) until Sunday, 1 September (16.00), we will also need to close Skûtsjespad and Jachthavenweg (the section above Skûtsjespad) to traffic. Traffic controllers will be deployed.
2-9 until mid-2026: Piet Kranenbergpad open during rush hour
During this period, we will be using Piet Kranenbergpad as a construction road leading to and from our sites. In order to ensure bicycle traffic can run as smoothly as possible, Piet Kranenbergpad will be open on weekdays during the morning rush hour (between 08.00 and 09.30) and during the afternoon rush hour (from 16.30 until 18.00). Piet Kranenbergpad will remain open if no works are happening in the evenings and/or at weekends. Outside of rush hour, Piet Kranenbergpad will be closed to cyclists and pedestrians when work is being done. This traffic situation will last until mid-2026.
Building with everything still running
The reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer junction is being done while everything is still running because traffic around the junction and the Schinkelbrug bridge still needs to be able to pass through. Despite this, there will be times when frequently-used traffic routes need to be (temporarily) closed, such as Piet Kranenbergpad and Jachthavenweg earlier this year. This is necessary both for safety reasons and in order to ensure that people, materials and equipment can be transported to our work and construction sites. This is all part of the project, to be completed by 2031, to achieve better and safer traffic flow at and around the De Nieuwe Meer junction. This will include separating through-traffic from local traffic on the A10. We will also be adding a new cycle path across the Schinkelbrug.
