We will be working on plots C and D in the future residential district Ravel. Starting in mid-2026, work will begin there on The Harmony complex, which will also feature local amenities, such as a supermarket, in addition to social and mid-market rented housing. In order to start construction work, we are moving existing cables and pipelines to a location outside the plots, underneath the green strip and cycle path in De Boelelaan and Beethovenstraat. Because of this, a minor diversion for cyclists and pedestrians on the east side of Beethovenstraat will be in place for a longer period.
Works
On 25 November, we will start moving around 60 to 70 ducts containing glass-fibre cabling for internet and telephony. This will take several months, mainly because the network needs to remain connected throughout the work and we cannot work on all ducts simultaneously – we will be doing a limited number each week for safety reasons. The removal of the telecom cables will create space to move the remaining cables and pipelines. In mid-2025, we will start to move the drainage system, heating pipes and district cooling. We will also be removing a gas pipeline, which will not be needed in the Ravel district, which is set to be gas- and car-free. We expect to complete this work by April 2026. Work will then start on The Harmony, which will take around two years
Diversion for cyclists and pedestrians
From 25 November 2024 until The Harmony opens in 2028, the cycle path and footpath on the east side of Beethovenstraat (heading into the city) will be closed to cyclists and pedestrians between De Boelelaan and Gustav Mahlerlaan. They will be diverted via the other side of the road. Until 14 February 2025, pedestrians will also only be able to use the De Boelelaan/Beethovenstraat crossing on that side in order to cross towards the south to Buitenveldert – a traffic controller will direct them.
Cyclists and pedestrians heading from a northerly direction towards Antonio Vivaldistraat (EMA, Van der Valk Hotel and EY) will be diverted via Spoorslag between the A10 Zuid and the AFC football club until February 2025. In February 2025, the new Maurice Ravellaan will be opened and this will then serve as the route to Vivaldistraat.
