During our works on the A10 Zuid in the summer of 2025, our colleagues regularly felt unsafe because of speeding motorists. This is why Zuidasdok introduced mobile speed controls during the works for the first time last weekend. The police found (and noted) that only 30 of the 12,000 vehicles subjected to the speed controls actually exceeded the temporary reduced maximum speed of 70 km/h. There was also remarkably little congestion, with additional journey times varying from a few minutes on the A10 Zuid to a maximum of 15 minutes on the A9.
Weekends of 13 and 20 February: lifting of girders
The works were completely devoted to preparing for the construction of a new southern Schinkelbrug bridge. The supports of the bridge can already be seen, and over the last weekend, we created space to enable us to lift the girders into position. We will be doing this work during two consecutive weekends: Friday 13 to Monday 16 February and Friday 20 to Monday 23 February 2026.
10 April: weekend of severe disruption
The reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer junction and related renovation works on the Schinkelbrug are well and truly underway this year. You should therefore expect further weekends ahead full of works and disruption. For example, we will be using the weekend of Friday 13 March for more lifting work at the junction (road connecting the A10 Zuid to the A10 West closed) and in the weekend of Friday 27 March, we will continue work on the Schinkelbrug (road connecting the A10 Zuid to the A10 West closed).
Make a note of the weekend of severe disruption starting on Friday 10 April in your diary now. During that weekend, we will be working both on the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station and on the renovation of the Schinkelbrug. The A10 Zuid will be closed in both directions that weekend. The same applies to the roads connecting the A10 Oost to the A10 Zuid in the direction of Schiphol and the A10 Noord to the A10 Oost in the direction of Diemen. There will also be no railway services at Amsterdam Zuid station.
