Where?

We are redesigning De Boelelaan Midden, the section between Parnassusweg and Beethovenstraat. The goal of the project is to create a safe, accessible, and future-proof De Boelelaan Midden together with residents. A place that better facilitates the wishes of users and strengthens the connection with the area.

The project consists of two separate measures:

Measure 1: replacement of road surface & 30 km/h configuration (2026)

We are renewing the carriageway. We are configuring the road according to the safety standards of a 30 km/h road. This will improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and cars. These works will take place in the second half of 2026.

Measure 2: redesign of service road and green strip

We are also working on a design for the service road on the south side and the greenery on the north side of the road. The goals of this redesign are more greenery and climate adaptation, more space to linger and meet, and improved safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

Neighbourhood involvement

From the start, residents and other stakeholders have been closely involved in the design process. The first participation block was completed in October 2025, the second in March 2026.

The third participation block will take place at the end of 2026. In this block, we will present a single design for Measure 2 and assess the extent to which it aligns with the wishes and expectations of stakeholders. Additionally, we will identify questions and concerns that arise during the implementation of Measure 1. The first pop-up tests focusing on activities from the design may take place as early as the summer of 2026. We will inform you about this in due time.

To continue working on the artwork on De Boelelaan Midden together with you, we are setting up an Art working group. We are looking for various participants from the De Boelelaan area who wish to represent the neighbourhood. The working group will meet approximately 5 times. What preceded

In 2020, the municipality organized an information meeting with the neighborhood. Based on the wishes gathered during that meeting, the municipal council adopted the Memorandum of Principles on 20 March 2020. Shortly thereafter, however, the project came to a standstill due to limited personnel availability for the project. In 2025, a new project team was assembled and the plans were resumed.
