2Amsterdam has breathe new life into two office blocks in the heart of Zuidas, known as the Twin Towers. The buildings have a multifunctional 24/7 purpose, which perfectly matches the ambitions of Amsterdam Zuidas. 2Amsterdam has a semi-public garden, public lobbies, flexible workspaces, premium quality office space, top restaurants and a four-star hotel with a sky bar.

Two Towers

The goal of 2Amsterdam’s design is to clearly demonstrate that the twin towers have different purposes but still form a single unit. The facades – made entirely of glass – give the buildings stylish matching uniforms and the identical ground floors also unify the towers. The western tower accommodates the hotel, with three extra storeys to be constructed on top of the existing tower and a sky bar at the top that offers an unrestricted view of the city. The eastern tower accommodates office space. A large atrium ensures daylight that reaches deep into the building, the enclosed outdoor area accommodates an intimate company garden featuring luxurious greenery, which offers an escape from the urban hustle and bustle of Zuidas.

Parties involved

Commerz Real Investmentgesellschaft (CRI), is the leaseholder of the Twin Towers, and signed a redevelopment contract with Provast for the renovation and expansion work. In accordance with this contract, Provast executed the redevelopment work in the capacity of delegated construction supervisor. KCAP Architects & Planners created the definitive design, and J.P. van Eesteren was contracted for the engineering and execution of the project.

Sustainability

The office block will receive the BREEAM Excellent certificate and the hotel is striving for a score of 6 on the GPR sustainability scale, which assesses the themes of energy, environment, health, user quality and future value.
