Work on traffic lights set to cause disruption

From Monday, 13 May to Thursday, 16 May 2024, there will be traffic disruption at the junction between Parnassusweg and Strawinskylaan. We are replacing the outdated traffic lights. There will be lane closures and traffic controllers will be deployed.

Where?

In addition to replacing the traffic lights, we are also replacing some of the lamps and painting the gantries.

When and where?

We will be working between 07.00 and 16.00 from Monday, 13 May until Thursday, 16 May. We will also be working during the hours of 01.00 and 05.00 in the night of 13/14 May. We will be working on the carriageway. There is always a chance that the works will overrun as a result of unforeseen circumstances.

Accessibility

The traffic lights will be deactivated and there will be several lane closures. However, the junction will remain accessible from all directions, although this will be limited. There will be signposts to guide traffic. Traffic controllers will also be deployed. The steps leading from Parnassusweg to the court will be fenced off. Pedestrians will be directed past the work.

We have begun preparing the area around The CubeHouse for residential use. This will take until the end of February 2026. Cyclists and pedestrians are already being diverted in Parnassusweg because of the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station.

Temporary layout for area around PI59

In the period from 18 August until 26 September 2025, we will relandscaping Prinses Irenestraat in the area around the PI59 office building. We are reinstating the street paving and green areas. In a later phase, we will be introducing the permanent new layout.
