For the expansion and renovation of Amsterdam Zuid station, we will be continuing in 2025 the construction of the new passageway – the Brittenpassage – underneath the railway and the A10 Zuid. Above the ground, we will be building new and wider metro and train platforms. For 16 days in June and July, we will also be diverting the A10 in order to create space for the renovation of the existing station passageway (the Minervapassage). At the De Nieuwe Meer junction, we will be working on a new entry road and flyover that will connect the A10 Zuid to the A4. We will also be widening the A10 Zuid, with two lanes for local traffic in both directions. In 2025, we will be laying the foundations for this work.
Large-scale disruption
This work will be taking place throughout the year and will regularly lead to road and rail closures. We will keep you as up to date as possible on this website. To give you an idea of what will be happening, we have produced an overview of the large-scale disruption (PDF, in Dutch) that we are expecting in 2025. You may find this useful when planning your holidays or even just a day out, and also for finding out about alternative modes of travel.
Long-lasting disruption
Your attention is particularly drawn to a number of long periods of disruption.
- We will be starting 2025 with nine days of reduced train services at Amsterdam Zuid, from 18 to 27 January.
- This will be repeated not long afterwards, from 15 to 23 March.
- During the long Ascension Day weekend, we will be closing various sections of the A10 Zuid, from 28 May to 2 June.
- At the end of that same month, there will be reduced train services for 16 days, from 26 June to 12 July, while the A10 Zuid and A10 Oost towards the A1 (Hengelo)/A2 (Utrecht) will also be closed between these dates.
- Immediately after that, we will be closing Amstelveenseweg near the A10 for a long period, from 12 July to 20 August.
You can find this information together with a large number of weekend closures on the overview (PDF, in Dutch).
Other work activities
Zuidasdok is not the only project where work will be carried out. On 18 December, Amsterdam Bereikbaar – a partnership of Rijkswaterstaat, the City of Amsterdam, ProRail, the Province of Noord Holland, and Vervoerregio Amsterdam – warned of serious disruption to traffic in the region in 2025. This is because of work on the A10, A1, A4, Middenweg/Linnaeusstraat, and Amsterdam Central Station. Major events will also be taking place, such as the party on the A10 marking Amsterdam’s 750th birthday, SAIL, and the NATO summit in The Hague. The work activities have all been well coordinated. They will take place either successively or, where possible, be combined.
