Currently, trams 5 and 25 still stop and turn around in Strawinskylaan. This is set to change in the future. In 2027, the entrance to Amsterdam Zuid station will be moved to the west. The new station passageway, the Brittenpassage, will then be in use and the existing passageway (Minervapassage) will be closed for major renovation works. The metro and railway platforms will also move to the west, towards Parnassusweg.
Close to the station
The new and temporary tram stop in Parnassusweg will then be the closest tram stop to the entrance to Amsterdam Zuid station. This will have the added advantage of providing space to build the car tunnel for the A10 Zuid – the existing stops in Parnassusweg are currently preventing that. The new tram stop will be to the south of the construction site and to the north of Gustav Mahlerlaan.
Traffic disruption
From Saturday 19 July until the morning of Monday, 25 August, Amsterdam regional transport (Vervoerregio Amsterdam) will carry out the work in Parnassusweg between De Boelelaan and the A10. The works will have an impact on traffic, including trams, cars, cyclists and pedestrians. You can find full details on the Amsterdam regional transport website (in Dutch).
Permanent stop
After the A10 tunnel has been built, the permanent stop will be on the south side of Amsterdam Zuid station. It will be on the roof of the southern car tunnel, which will be built in Arnold Schönberglaan starting in 2027. The tram station will then be at a much shorter distance from the railway and metro platforms between the two station passageways.
