As we reported earlier this year, we are working with utility companies to untangle and move the spaghetti of cables and pipelines underneath the future Ravel residential district. To do this, it is occasionally necessary to temporarily close a cycle path or roadway or introduce diversions. The works are progressing well. Despite this, there have been some minor changes to the schedule. Below is the latest overview of the works and the disruption you can expect. We anticipate that the work will be completed by around July 2026.

This is where we are working, the diversion via Spoorslag (see below) runs above, alongside the football pitches

De Boelelaan, north side

In the period ahead, Liander will be relocating and removing a large amount of cabling. This will create space to enable the canal wall to be extended from De Boelegracht to Beethovenstraat in the future. It has not proved possible to carry out the work without disrupting cyclists in De Boelelaan.

  • 20-10 to 14-11: closure of cycle path on north side of De Boelelaan
From Monday, 20 October until Friday, 14 November, we will be completely closing the cycle path on the north side of De Boelelaan from Antonio Vivaldistraat to Beethovenstraat. Cyclists coming from the direction of Europaboulevard will be diverted via Antonio Vivaldistraat and Maurice Ravellaan. Cyclists from the other side, coming from a westerly direction, will be diverted via the south side of De Boelelaan. It will still be possible to access the crossing that leads from Van Leijenberghlaan to Beethovenstraat, across De Boelelaan.

Beethovenstraat/Maurice Ravellaan crossing

At this crossing, we are working on ‘koppelveld D’ (‘coupling field D’). More than seven utility companies will be working consecutively on the underground infrastructure here. This involves all kinds of cables and pipelines for gas, heating, cooling, electricity, drinking water, sewage and telecoms that are being moved to the edges of the new residential district. We are doing this in order to be able to build The Harmony on plots C and D (see the map below) alongside Beethovenstraat. Because of setbacks, the previous schedule has been changed. Vattenfall is currently working on the district cooling network, Waternet is set to start in early 2026.

  • 29-09 until July 2026: partial closure of Ravellaan (motor vehicles)
It will not be possible for motor vehicles to access Ravellaan from Beethovenstraat. However Ravellaan will be open from the other side via Vivaldistraat, for traffic accessing the Valley car park, for example. This situation will remain until all work has been completed on ‘koppelveld D’.
  • 17-11 until 2026: partial closure of Ravellaan (cyclists and motor vehicles)
From Monday, 17 November 2025, Ravellaan will also be blocked for cyclists. Cyclists will be diverted to the north via Spoorslag alongside the A10 Zuid. Pedestrians will still be able to use Ravellaan.

Current closure of Spoorslag
Spoorslag is currently already closed because of ground surveys by Zuidasdok. The diversion for cyclists currently runs via Ravellaan. This closure and diversion will last until the end of October. From November, Spoorslag will serve as a diversion for cyclists when Ravellaan is closed, as mentioned above.

  • 2026: Ravellaan/Beethovenstraat connection reconfigured
The connection between Ravellaan and Beethovenstraat is been reconfigured, and will include a crossing over Beethovenstraat. This will also involve working in Beethovenstraat itself. We are currently in the planning process and will announce any potential disruption in due course.
