Until 4 April 2026, Parnassusweg will be almost completely closed to cyclists and pedestrians on the station side next to the viaduct. Since November, we have been working here on the extension of the railway platforms at Amsterdam Zuid. For safety reasons, the footpath and cycle path on the east side of Parnassusweg is closed for a long period between Arnold Schönberglaan (south side of viaduct) and Eduard van Beinumstraat (north side of viaduct). Throughout this period, the entrances to the platforms will be accessible on an alternating basis, with at least one open at all times. We appreciate that this will require some flexibility on the part of passengers.

Christmas holiday: 23 December 2025 until 4 January 2026

To avoid any confusion, both platform entrances will be accessible from the north and south side during the period from 23 December 2025 until 4 January 2026 (the Christmas holiday). We have also set up a temporary footpath alongside the works, enabling passengers to walk underneath the viaduct until the end of the Christmas holiday.

From 5 January: southern entrance accessible

After the Christmas holiday, from 5 January 2026, only the southern platform entrance will be accessible (platform 1). N.B.: when only one entrance is open, you will need to walk around 200 m across the railway platform to the station passageway to change platforms. It may be more practical to travel directly via the passageway. From 3 February until 4 April, both platform entrances will again be accessible, but from the south side of the viaduct only. For an overview of all disruption and diversions affecting Parnassusweg until April 2026, click here.

Brittenpassage

From 2027, the entrance to Amsterdam Zuid station is being relocated around 200 m to the west to the new Brittenpassage next to Parnassusweg. In order to enable the trains to stop there, Zuidasdok is widening both railway platforms by around 100 m to reach over the viaduct across Parnassusweg. Trains will begin stopping here from March 2026. The Brittenpassage will not yet be open, so railway passengers will have a longer walk to and from the existing passenger tunnel (Minervapassage). After the opening of the Brittenpassage (in 2027 at the latest), the Minervapassage will be closed for three years for thorough renovation. Once both passenger tunnels have reopened, the entrances in Parnassusweg will disappear.
