Major maintenance work on Buitenveldertselaan until May 2023

The footpath, cycle path and carriageway of Buitenveldertselaan all need to be resurfaced. In one section of Buitenveldertselaan – from De Boelelaan in the north, past Vrije Universiteit to Kalfjeslaan at the boundary with Amstelveen in the south – Waternet and Liander are also replacing the sewers and gas pipes. The entirety of the work along Buitenveldertselaan will be completed by the end of May 2023. The maintenance work, which also involves Liander and Waternet, will last until mid-June 2022.

Closure of cycle path and footpath on the western side

Between April and June 2022, the municipality will be working on the section of Buitenveldertselaan near VU University (see the image below). There, pedestrians and cyclists need to cross to the other side of the road while the work is going on. The university campus is still accessible from Buitenveldertselaan.

Closure of cycle path and footpath on the eastern side

Work is also underway further south. The cycle path and footpath on the eastern side between Van Boshuizenstraat and Kalfjeslaan will be closed until mid-May (see the image below). There, pedestrians and cyclists need to cross to the other side of the road while the work is going on.

Road traffic diverted

Between 9 May and mid-June 2022, the eastern carriageway between Van Boshuizenstraat and Kalfjeslaan will be open, including the intersection with Van Boshuizenstraat (see image below). The carriageway and the eastern half of the intersection with Van Boshuizenstraat will not be accessible for motorists during that period. Wherever possible, motor traffic heading for Amsterdam from Amstelveen will be diverted via the A9 or the Groen van Prinstererlaan-Keizer Karelweg-Amstelveenseweg route. Car traffic between Van Boshuizenstraat and Buitenveldertselaan will be diverted via Van Nijenrodeweg and Van Leijenberghlaan.

More roadworks

More roadworks will be taking place in the future. We will announce these at a later time.
