Removing and installing sheet piling at Amsterdam Zuid station

Following the major works completed in July, we are now continuing what we started: doing further work on the second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station. The work in September and October will be on the work site between the metro tracks directly to the west of the station. There will be no disruption to traffic, but people living or working locally may suffer some noise nuisance.

The work site between the metro tracks

29 August to 9 September

We are removing sheet piling that is preventing construction. The work will be done between 07.00 and 19.00. Some of the wall panels will need to be drilled to remove them.

10 and 11 September

During this weekend, we will be inserting the sheet piling into the ground. Although we are working day and night, the vibration drilling to insert the sheet piling will be done mainly between 07.00 and 19.00 since this causes the most noise. This work will only continue into the evenings in the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather or broken machinery. In order to reduce disruption, we are also pre-drilling the ground.

26 to 29 September

During these days, we will continue to remove the old sheet piling.

October

Even in October, we will also be inserting piles into the ground on weekdays, between 07.00 and 19.00.

Second passenger tunnel

All of this work is related to the construction of the second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station: the Brittenpassage. We will be building new sections of the roof and these will be inserted into position during Ascension weekend 2023 (18 to 21 May). We will shortly update you on everything that will be happening between now and then.
