Work on new Amsterdam Zuid station in April

The preparations for making a temporary GVB Service and Tickets office are already in progress. The existing office needs to move from its position in the existing station passageway to make space for works related to the renovation of this passageway.

1 and 2 April: vibration work

On Saturday, 1 April between 07.00 and 21.00 and Sunday, 2 April between 09.00 19.00, we will be using vibration methods to insert a soldier pile wall into the ground on the work site between the metro tracks next to the station. A soldier pile wall is a retaining wall structure made up of steel H piles with steel sheets between them. We use vibratory methods to put these H piles in place. To enable us to do this safely, we will be closing the staircase to metro platform 3 during the works. It is only possible to close the staircase at weekends. All of the metro platforms will remain accessible at platform level via the staircase and lifts.

Fifth roof section for Brittenpassage

In the week starting 12 April, we will be pouring the concrete for the fifth roof section of the new passenger tunnel, the Brittenpassage. We will do this on our construction site in Arnold Schönberglaan on the southern side of the A10. The work will take place between 06.00 and 23.00. After the concrete has been poured, it will be power-floated. This fifth roof section will be inserted into position under the A10 and the train tracks this summer, together with the roof section already ready and waiting next to the A10. From 5 to 14 August, the A4 and A10 Zuid will be closed from the Badhoevedorp junction to the S109 RAI access road.

Disruption expected

Putting the soldier pile wall in place will cause some disruption in the form of vibration and noise, but inserting the steel will cause less noise than the sheet piles. On the day of the concrete pouring for the fifth roof section of the Brittenpassage, there will be additional construction traffic (120 trucks) travelling via Parnassusweg to the construction site on Arnold Schönberglaan. For this reason, we are closing the cycle path and footpath on Parnassusweg for one or two minutes at regular intervals and traffic controllers will be in place to guide the traffic.
