5 to 17 June: works in Prinses Irenestraat

For two weeks starting on 5 June, we will be digging two test trenches 1.5 m deep every day for a two-week period. This will enable us to locate any cables and pipelines under the ground. At the end of each afternoon, we will refill the trenches and replace the street paving. The work will then restart the next day, but at a different location. We are digging a total of 18 of these viewing holes. The work will be completed on Saturday 17 June.

Traffic diversion

The test trenches will cover the width of Prinses Irenestraat. For this reason, there will be signposts to divert motorised traffic through the neighbourhood. There will also be traffic controllers to ensure that traffic can travel safely in the right direction. The diversion will change on a daily basis because the work will be in a different location each day. Cyclists and pedestrians will be able to continue as normal past the work.

Noise

We will be using electric pumps to drain the water away in order to keep the test trenches dry during the inspection. This may cause some noise nuisance in the immediate area.

New layout for Prinses Irenestraat

The work is part of preparations for the new layout for Prinses Irenestraat. That is scheduled for the second half of 2024. We will keep you informed of developments.
