Crossover
The multifunctional Crossover building has been completed. The office section of the building was completed in the spring of this year, and the same now also applies to the housing section. The new residents of the social rented housing – 60 first-timers and 60 residence permit holders – were given the keys to their new homes on 7 July 2023. The ground floor, intended for hospitality/catering purposes, will be fitted out soon.
Green areas around Crossover
In the upcoming period, we will be completing the landscaping of the public space around the building. The area has already been paved and the planting in front of the water-retardant strips will follow later in the year. The landscaping of the square opposite the entrance to Crossover is also scheduled to happen later this year when the trees in the street will also be planted. Perennials and trees are generally planted in the autumn as this is the best time for them to take root. In a few years’ time, when the building next to Crossover has been built (on plot K, see the map), we will be creating a pocket park between Crossover and this building. Until then, this space will be laid out as a pavement.

The Newton
Construction work on The Newton is progressing well. The highest point was reached in March 2023 and finishing work is now being done on the housing complex. The construction crane has been dismantled and the scaffolding around the building is being removed. In mid-August, the cables and pipelines for the domestic connections will be laid. We are also landscaping the public space around the building, including the paving and water-retardant green strips. Later in the year, we will plant trees between The Newton and Crossover. Construction work on The Newton is expected to be completed by November 2023 when the new residents will be able to move into the 101 new apartments. The hospitality and catering area will also be fitted out towards the end of this year.
Hogelandplein
We have been hard at work landscaping Hogelandplein since January 2023. All of the stonework – the paving and natural stone around the water feature – is scheduled to be laid in August. The fencing around this part of the square will then be removed. We will plant the grass on and around the hill starting in mid-August. Depending on the weather, this will take around four to five weeks to take root. Until then, the square will remain fenced off to prevent anyone walking on the grass. The water feature will then be activated: the water runs across the natural stone blocks into a small lake. Finally, in the autumn – during the planting season – the trees will be planted on the square. That will complete the landscaping of the square. We had originally planned to complete the work on the square before the summer holidays, with the exception of the trees. This will be happening slightly later, because of the delayed delivery of the natural stone.
Temporary landscaping of other plots
In recent months, the Old School building has been demolished. When The Newton is completed in the autumn, there will be no further construction projects in Kop Zuidas for several years. This means that part of the space in the K, L and Old School plots will be temporarily landscaped. We are interested in hearing the views of residents and other users in Kop Zuidas on how this temporary landscaping should be done. Further information will follow after the summer.
