S109 access road widened during A10 summer works

The S109 access road already has two carriageways at the start, but later reduces to a single carriageway to guide traffic onto the A10. From 21.00 on 5 August until 05.00 on 6 August, we will be closing the access road in order to paint over the white road markings. We will also put up additional signposts. Increasing the road to two carriageways will help to improve traffic flow during the closure of the A10 in the summer. Because the S108 will be closed, there will be increased traffic travelling out of the city via the S109 access road to the A10 in the direction of Utrecht and the A10 Oost. Widening the access road will reduce pressure on the Amsterdam road network.

5 to 14 August: closure of A4 and A10 Zuid

From the evening of Saturday, 5 August until the morning of Monday, 14 August, the A4 and A10 Zuid will be closed from the Badhoevedorp interchange to the S109 RAI access road. During that time, we will be moving two gigantic sections of the Brittenpassage, the new passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station, into position. Traffic will be diverted via the A9 and A5. The S109 access road was already widened during previous closures of the A10 Zuid for major roadworks, in 2019 and 2022. Taking this action in the past has prevented major traffic disruption.

Diversion and return to old situation

During the night-time closure of the S109, traffic can travel via Europaboulevard, President Kennedylaan and the Utrechtsebrug bridge to reach the A2 in the direction of Utrecht and the A10 Oost. This diversion will be signposted. In the night of 13/14 August, we will be closing the S109 access road again in order to put things back as they were.
