Making space for A10 Zuid widening

Now that the soilsurveys and other investigations have been largely completed, the TriAX construction consortium (Besix, Dura Vermeer and Heijmans) is continuing to create space for work sites and access roads for the reconstruction of the Nieuwe Meer junction. For this purpose, from Monday 4 March until Wednesday, 13 March, we will be removing trees and greenery at three locations around the river Schinkel. For safety reasons, we will be closing the cycle route across the southern lock gate of the Nieuwe Meersluis and Jachthavenweg for two days.

Works and schedule

We will start work on Monday, 4 March on the trees and plants around Jaagpad to the south of the A10 Zuid. This will be used in the future for a work site with room for several construction huts. The day after that, we will be felling around ten trees and removing some bushes next to IJsbaanpad at the Nieuwe Meersluis. This will create space for a crane to be positioned, enabling us to lift out the southern lock gate for maintenance and in emergencies. During the next two nights (Wednesdays, 6 and Thursday, 7 March), will be removing the remaining tree stumps at both locations. The week after that (from Monday, 11 March until Wednesday, 13 March and just before the nesting season begins), we will be creating space for a construction access road on Jachthavenweg. To make this possible, dozens of trees need to be removed along the south side of the A10 Zuid.

Closure of southern cycle route across the Nieuwe Meersluis

Between 09.30 and 16.00 on Monday, 4 March and Tuesday, 5 March, we will be working on the southern lock gate and only the northern cycle route across the Nieuwe Meersluis will be open. Should a vessel need to pass through the lock when the northern route is blocked, the work on the south side will be suspended and cyclists will be guided across the southern route with the help of a traffic controller.

Closure of Jachthavenweg cycle path

From Wednesday, March 6th until Friday, 12 March, the cycle path alongside Jachthavenweg will be closed from the north side of the A10 Zuid up to and including Piet Kranenbergpad. There will be signposts to divert cyclists via Piet Kranenbergpad and Skûtjespad.

Zuidasdok tree-felling permit

VIn order to remove the trees, bushes and other plants, the Zuidasdok applied for a permit at the end of 2016 and this was granted in February 2017 (in dutch). This covers the earlier works done in August 2023 onder. That permit also covers the works mentioned in this article up to March 2024, excluding the removal of around ten trees and the plants next to Nieuwe Meersluis. For that, a new permit (in Dutch) was granted on Wednesday, 17 January 2024..
