Western Amstelveenseweg cycle path closed for six weeks

In the second quarter of 2024, various parties have works scheduled to take place on the west side of Amstelveenseweg, between IJsbaanpad and Pramenpad. This is the side where the bus stops and the entrance to the metro platforms at Amstelveenseweg station are located. Because this is a major traffic artery that connects Amsterdam Zuid to Amstelveen, the works are being combined and carried out consecutively. This will ensure that (traffic) disruption to the local area remains as manageable and brief as possible.

From Monday, 3 June until Sunday, 7 July, cyclists in Amstelveenseweg will be diverted via Skûtsjespad and Piet Kranenbergpad. Pedestrians will be guided past the works via the pavement or the cycle path, depending on the circumstances. From Monday, 8 July until Friday,12 July, both pedestrians and cyclists will follow a diversion via Pramenpad and Skûtsjespad – and, for cyclists, possibly also Piet Kranenbergpad – that will lead them back to Amstelveenseweg (and vice-versa). Car traffic will not experience any disruption during the works. The bus and tram stop on the west side (leading out of the city) will be reduced in length by half for a week starting on 3 June. In the places where the diversion starts, a traffic controller will be on hand to guide traffic during the hours of 07.00 to 19.00.

Closure of Jachthavenweg
Cyclists should bear in mind that, from 29 May 2024, the nearby Jachthavenweg will also be closed. This will not affect the diversions described above.
