The road closure will start on at 22.00 on Friday, 28 June and continue until 05.00 on Monday, 1 July. During this time, the A10 Zuid will be closed in the direction of Hengelo/Utrecht up to the s108 Amsterdam Oud Zuid/Buitenveldert exit road. As a result, traffic travelling from the A10 West will not be able to access the A10 Zuid. However, traffic from the A4 will still be able to access the A10 West during the works.

Diversion via A5 and A9

Traffic travelling from the A4 can take an alternative route via the A5 (and the A10 Noord) in a northerly direction and via the A9 in a southerly direction. Traffic from the A10 West can take an alternative route to the north via the A10 Noord and A10 Oost. Or via the A4 and the A9 if travelling in the other direction. We anticipate that these diversions will increase journey times by up to an hour.

S109 RAI exit road closed for one night

The S108 access road will be open during the weekend. However, traffic from the S108 accessing the A10 Zuid in the direction of Hengelo/Utrecht should be aware that the S109 RAI exit road will be closed between 22.00 and 08.00 on the night of Saturday 29/Sunday 30 June. Local diversions will apply.

Space for construction traffic

Space will be needed to enable the reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer junction. This also applies to construction logistics. This is why we will be converting the existing rush-hour lane into a permanent carriageway. With the removal of the hard shoulder, there will still need to be an escape facility for breakdowns. We will therefore be adding an additional breakdown bay next to Spoorslag, between the A10 Zuid and the AFC football pitches. Preparations for this were started earlier this year. The additional breakdown bay will remain in place until the southern motorway tunnel opens.

De Nieuwe Meer junction

The structural renewal of the A10 Zuid is part of Zuidasdok and begins with the large-scale reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer junction. The contract for this project was awarded in 2022 to the TriAX construction consortium (Besix, Dura Vermeer and Heijmans). We are building a new flyover and bridges across the Schinkel and widening the A10 Zuid from four to six lanes in each direction. We are creating the space needed to improve traffic flow on the A10 Zuid and make it safer. To enable this to happen, major changes are required on the De Nieuwe Meer junction and later also on the Amstel junction.
