A lot of work completed during A10 weekend closure

We converted the rush-hour lane into a permanent carriageway, complete with an additional escape facility for breakdowns (breakdown bay). We also made adjustments to the S108 Amsterdam Oud Zuid/Buitenveldert exit: there will be a construction site in the middle of the road, so we widened the exit to enable access to it.

Peace and quiet on the A10 Zuid, busy elsewhere

A deadly quiet A10 Zuid formed the backdrop for the weekend packed full of works for the reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer junction. This calm was in stark contrast to the scene on the busy diversion routes and city roads of Amsterdam. Road users there faced significantly longer journey times.

Further disruption ahead

Travellers can expect plenty more disruption in the upcoming period. In and around the rest of Amsterdam, the Public Works Department (Rijkswaterstaat) and the City of Amsterdam are hard at work on the city’s infrastructure this year. And the next in the series of eight weekend closures of the A10 Zuid is already fast approaching: from Friday, 12 July until the morning of Monday, 15 July 2024, we will be closing the A10 Zuid in the direction of The Hague/Schiphol.
