What exactly are we doing?
During Ascension weekend, we are working on the widening of the A10 Zuid and the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station. The A10 Zuid is having two additional lanes in both directions for local traffic added to it. To make this possible, it is also necessary to carry out work at the De Nieuwe Meer junction to make changes to the A10 West. During Ascension weekend, we will be installing sheet piling at the side of the road. At Amsterdam Zuid station, we are also working on a second passenger tunnel: the Brittenpassage. During Ascension weekend, we will be lifting the stairways and lifts from the A10 Zuid that will connect the Brittenpassage to the railway platforms.
Much more to come
Ascension weekend marks the start of a summer of disruption. From Friday, 6 June until Tuesday, 10 June, the connecting road from the A10 Zuid in the direction of the A10 West will again be closed. During the weekend after that, from 13 June until 16 June, the A4 and A10 Zuid will be closed in the direction of the A1 Hengelo and A2 Utrecht, from the Badhoevedorp junction to the Amstel junction. No trains will be running to and from Amsterdam Zuid station. The main event will be the 16-day closure of the A4, A10 Zuid and A10 Oost, from 26 June until 12 July. Even after that, there will be numerous road closures and trains out of service.
