There is plenty happening at the De Nieuwe Meer junction. We are adding two extra lanes in each direction to the A10 Zuid, expanding the Schinkelbrug from five to eight bridges, and constructing a new flyover connecting the A10 Zuid to the A4 towards Schiphol. Construction consortium TriAX (Besix, Dura Vermeer and Heijmans) enjoys nothing more than building, and on Dutch Building Day we are pleased to show you exactly how they do it. So come and visit our construction site at Jaagpad 61, Amsterdam, on Saturday, 20 June. You and your children or grandchildren are very welcome. Registration is not required.

What is there to do?

You can take a close look at both the existing Schinkelbrug and the two new bridges currently under construction – afterwards, you will know exactly how a bascule bridge works and what a Panama wheel is. There will be a continuous programme throughout the day, including mini guided tours, large lifting cranes, a concrete-making workshop and a spectacular walk across the new flyover. For children, there will be a range of activities, including a treasure hunt and a bouncy castle. Food and refreshments will be available, and we will also be handing out ice creams.

Where should you go?

We encourage visitors to travel by bicycle wherever possible, as plenty of bicycle parking is available. And don’t forget to wear sturdy walking shoes.

What are we building at the De Nieuwe Meer junction?

Between the Amstel and De Nieuwe Meer junctions, the A10 Zuid will be widened from four to six lanes in each direction: four lanes for through traffic and two lanes for local traffic. To make this possible, we are rebuilding or modifying fourteen existing viaducts in and around the De Nieuwe Meer junction (including the viaduct at the Amstelveenseweg), expanding the number of bridges across the Schinkel, and constructing an entirely new flyover that will connect the A10 Zuid with the A4 towards Schiphol and Rotterdam.
