Cyclists and pedestrians who use Parnassusweg next to Amsterdam Zuid station will no doubt have noticed it: we are hard at work in that area. We were aware that this would cause disruption, but this is slightly more intense than we anticipated. The partial demolition of a metro viaduct is causing debris and water to drop down. For safety reasons, the ‘container tunnel’ that we had put in place especially for cyclists and pedestrians will now be closed in both directions from Thursday, 11 July. This will remain the case until 06.00 on Friday, 19 July.
Diversions
- Cyclists: use the diversion via Beethovenstraat from 11-19 July.
- Pedestrians: on Thursday, 11 July, it will be possible to reach the tram stops. However, between Friday 12 and Monday 15 July (05.00), there will also be no trams running. Between Monday 15 July and Friday 19 July (06.00), pedestrians will be able to use a walking route on the tram path.
- Motor vehicles: traffic in Parnassusweg will be intermittently halted for safety reasons when necessary.
From Friday 19 July (06.00), Parnassusweg will be open to all traffic again.
Keep a close eye on our website for the latest information about disruption. This also applies to railway and metro passengers.
