Amsterdam Zuid station will remain easily accessible. However, from 12 until 26 March 2025, trains will run according to a revised timetable. You should therefore expect the trains to be full(er) and the platforms to be more crowded. Where possible, you are advised to avoid the rush hour and/or work from home. If that is not an option, make sure you consult the NS journey planner or 9292.nl several days in advance.
Second permanent railway platform
During this period, we will be replacing the temporary platform serving tracks 1 and 2 with a permanent one. The platform concerned will be closed during this period. We did the same first with the other railway platform serving tracks 3 and 4. Currently, we are working out of sight building the walls where the stairways/escalators and lifts leading to the future railway platforms will be located. This is because the new platform will be built on these walls.
Please note: traffic disruption also in March 2025
From 14-17 March and from 21-24 March, there will be major traffic disruption on the south side of Amsterdam. The A4 will be closed to all traffic travelling in the direction of Amsterdam, between the Badhoevedorp and De Nieuwe Meer junctions. Please allow up to one hour extra for your journey. For the works at Amsterdam Zuid station, we will be closing two lanes on the A10 Zuid in the weekend of 14 to 17 March. Traffic coming from the A10 West will use the remaining lanes to travel in the direction of the A1 Hengelo/A2 Utrecht. Read more here.
Regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station
Amsterdam Zuid station is bursting at the seams. In order to be able to process the growing number of passengers, we are building an additional entrance: the Brittenpassage. It will be 15 m wide and feature shops and a bicycle park. As soon as the Brittenpassage is open, by 2027 at the latest, major work will begin on the existing passageway: the Minervapassage. This is being widened from 12 to 40 m and will have shops and amenities on both sides. The regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid station is part of Zuidasdok.
