From 2027, the entrance to Amsterdam Zuid station is being relocated around 200 m to the west to the new Brittenpassage next to Parnassusweg. In order to enable the trains to stop there, Zuidasdok is widening both railway platforms by around 100 m to reach over the viaduct across Parnassusweg. For safety reasons, we are closing the footpath and cycle path on the east side of Parnassusweg for a long period between Arnold Schönberglaan (south side of viaduct) and Eduard van Beinumstraat (north side of viaduct). There will also be some periods when the railway platforms cannot be accessed via the public transport access gates in Parnassusweg.

Want to avoid the fuss? Use the main entrance at Amsterdam Zuid station.
In the entire period from 3 November 2025 until 4 April 2026, you are advised to enter and leave Amsterdam Zuid station via the Minervapassage some distance away, with entrances in Zuidplein and Gustav Mahlerplein. From there, all platforms can be accessed without hindrance. There is plenty of bicycle parking in Zuidplein and Strawinsky on the north side, and Mahlerplein on the south side.

Diversion for cyclists and pedestrians

From Monday, 3 November 2025 until Monday, 4 April 2026, cyclists on the east side of Parnassusweg (the station side) will be diverted via the other side of Parnassusweg. The bicycle parking spaces underneath the viaduct next to the platform entrances will be moved on 3 November to the other side, next to the Hourglass building. A short distance away, underneath the viaduct – also on the west side – there are already 11 bicycle racks. During this period, the platform entrance will sometimes be closed, as well as with the footpath under the viaduct. For more details, see the maps below and the box at the bottom of this article.

We will give you advance notice of the removal of the bicycle racks by means of bicycle coaches (from 27 October), sticker campaigns and warning signs.

Temporary footpath from 29 November

Before and after the Christmas holiday (from 29 November until 2 February 2026), we will make a footpath available alongside the work to enable people to walk under the viaduct. This is except on Saturday, 6 December and Sunday, 7 December.

Lengthened railway platforms

Both railway platforms will soon reach from one end of Parnassusweg to the other, supported on both sides by an abutment (concrete foundations). In order to bridge that distance, we are putting in place two additional foundation piles for each platform – four in total – in Parnassusweg. On top of this, there will be a steel platform structure, with the platforms and platform roofs on top of that. The works on the railway platforms and platform entrance will last until Monday, 2 February 2026. Immediately after that, we will begin work on the preparations for building the A10 tunnel.

Removal of cables and pipelines for A10 tunnel

In order to keep local disruption to a minimum, we are combining the work on Amsterdam Zuid station with work on the construction of the A10 tunnel. For that purpose, starting on 2 February, we will be removing disused Liander power cables, various Waternet drinking water pipelines and telecom ducting from several providers underneath our work site in Eduard van Beinumstraat (in front of Albert Heijn). For that purpose, we will be removing all bikes and mopeds here on 9 February 2026.

We will give you advance notice of the removal of the bicycle racks by means of bicycle coaches (from 2 February), sticker campaigns and warning signs.

Details of disruption to pedestrians
Throughout the entire period, the platform entrances Parnassusweg will remain accessible sporadically for pedestrians; sometimes there will be just one platform entrance open, at other times both will be open. The northern entrance leads to railway platform 2 (in the direction of Schiphol airport), the southern entrance leads to railway platform 1 (in the direction of Utrecht, Almere and Amersfoort). Watch out for the times when only one entrance is open, because you will need to walk around 200 m across the railway platform to the station passageway to change platforms. It may be more practical to travel directly via the passageway.

From 3 until 16 November, both platform entrances will be accessible from both the north and south side of the viaduct, but crossing under the viaduct from north to south or vice-versa will not be possible.

From 17 until 30 November, only the northern platform entrance will be accessible (platform 2), and only from the north side of the viaduct. As a result, it will not be possible to cross underneath the viaduct from north to south and vice-versa.

From 1 December until 22 December, only the northern platform entrance will be accessible (platform 2), and only from the north side of the viaduct. However, it will be possible to cross underneath the viaduct from north to south and vice-versa via a narrowed footpath.

From 23 December until 4 January 2026 (during the Christmas holiday), both platform entrances will be accessible (platforms 1 and 2), from both the north and south side of the viaduct. It will also then be possible to cross underneath the viaduct from north to south and vice-versa via a narrowed footpath.

From 5 January until 2 February 2026 (when the works are scheduled to end), only the southern platform entrance will be accessible (platform 1). It will also then be possible to cross underneath the viaduct from north to south and vice-versa via a narrowed footpath.

From 3 February until 4 April 2026, both platform entrances will be accessible (platforms 1 and 2), but only from the south side of the viaduct because of work on cables and pipelines. Crossing underneath the viaduct from north to south and vice-versa will not be possible.
