17 and 18 December: noise disruption on metro platforms

The works are part of the Zuidasdok project, which involves widening and tunnelling the A10 Zuid and the complete renovation of Amsterdam Zuid station. The piles need to be inserted to make it possible to build construction pits. They hold back soil and water, making it possible to work in the construction pit. This time, the piles will be inserted into the ground near the temporary walkways on the metro platforms, alongside the characteristic glass domes above the passageway and the metro entrance. We need to use vibratory methods, because the piles are long and the ground is hard. The video below explains the difference between vibratory and hydraulic insertion of sheet piles.

Saturday, 17 December, 07.00 – 19.00

Between 07.00 and 19.00 on Saturday, 17 December, we will insert 20 box piles into the ground by means of vibration. If we are unable to complete the work on Saturday, we will continue it on Sunday. Work will only continue after 19.00 on Saturday evening in the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather or faulty machinery. The vibratory insertion of sheet piles can cause disruption in the form of vibration and noise.

Holiday period

Between 24 December and 1 January, there will be no work on the work sites of the Nieuw-Zuid construction consortium at Amsterdam Zuid station. Between 2 and 6 January, we will only be working on cables and pipelines in the Minervapassage. Work will resume completely on Monday, 9 January.
