The metro platforms at Amsterdam Zuid station are undergoing radical change. Currently, they are located to the east of the railway platforms and can only be accessed from the existing station passageway. After the station regeneration, it will be possible to access the metros via two passageways: the Minervapassage and the new Brittenpassage. Since passengers will be spread across the two passageways, this will reduce crowding on the stairways.

North/South metro line

In the future, line 52 (the North/South metro line) will have two tracks (it currently has just one), enabling more metros to run per hour. We are also making preparations in case the North/South metro line is extended to Schiphol airport in the future.

Platforms

The platforms will have the same look and feel as the railway platforms. The roofs will allow light through and provide space for planting and solar panels. Near the stairways, the platform floors will also allow light through, ensuring there is a lot of natural daylight in the passageways.
