In order to make space for the widening of the A10 Zuid, changes need to be made to several viaducts and bridges from the De Nieuwe Meer junction all the way to Amstelveenseweg. In recent weeks, we already made preparations for this during weekend closures of the A10 Zuid by inserting (temporary) sheet piling into the ground. In October and November 2024, we will be demolishing part of the viaduct across Amstelveenseweg on the south side, in order to create space here to build a new viaduct. This is where the new parallel carriageway will ultimately run, with two lanes for local traffic.
October: beam cutting
We will start demolishing part of the viaduct during the night of 14/15 October and the night of 15/16 October 2024. Between 01:15 and 05:00, we will then saw through the concrete bridge beams in phases, working from the west to the east side of Amstelveenseweg. This work will continue in the nights of 21 October until 25 October. We will be doing the same from 28 until 30 October, but will then be working from 23:00 until 05:00. While the night-time work on the beams is being done, cyclists and pedestrians will be diverted via Piet Kranenbergpad. Drivers of motor vehicles will experience little or no disruption from the works. The carriageway will be made narrower. However, there may be some noise nuisance.
Hoisting out the beams
From 11 until 15 November 2024, we will be hoisting out the concrete beams that have been cut. This work will also be done at night. To do this, we will use a crane that is located on our work site on the south side of the A10 Zuid, where the bus lane used to be. This bus lane, and the bus stop, have been temporarily moved to Skûtsjespad.
From 4 to 6 lanes
We are widening the A10 Zuid between the De Nieuwe Meer junction and the Amstel junction. To the existing four lanes in each direction, we are adding two new lanes: this will result in a total of six lanes in each direction of travel. We are separating through-traffic from local traffic. For through traffic, there will be four lanes and there will be two lanes for local traffic (the S108 and S109 access roads and exits).
