Amsterdam Zuid station: no trains from 13 to 26 November

These works are not part of the Zuidasdok project. ProRail is relocating and replacing switches (also referred to as points), moving cables and pipelines and relocating signalling. This is necessary in order to enable more trains to run between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Centraal in the longer term. Replacing and moving the switches near Amsterdam Zuid station will make it possible for the Intercity (the fast train between Amsterdam and Breda) to run through Amsterdam via the east side in the future. This will in turn create space on the track to the west of the city. This space is needed to accommodate the growth in passenger numbers and reduce crowding on the platforms at Schiphol Airport station and elsewhere.

Construction sites

ProRail is setting up two construction sites to store materials and for the workers’ hut. These sites will be in Jachthavenweg and Amstelveenseweg. For this reason, most of the Jachthavenweg footpath and cycle path will be closed from 06.00 on Monday, 7 November until 06.00 on Monday, 5 December.

Zuidasdok

Zuidasdok is taking advantage of this to do some work of its own in two places. Next to what will ultimately be the new Brittenpassage and close to the Schinkelbrug bridge, we will be working on the platforms and railway bridge over several days. We will provide further details in due course.
