Just to the east of the AkzoNobel office building, Breevast is developing two residential towers with an underground car park. A construction site is being set up for this in the location where the cycle path currently runs. At the end of next year, there are plans to develop the site to the east of the Sint Nicolaas Lyceum, where the Habitat Royale residential building will be located. The building will also have an underground car park. Both car parks will be connected to each other underground and will have an exit and exit in Christiaan Neefestraat. In order to connect the two car parks to each other, it will be necessary to cut across the current cycle path.
Cycle route to be reinstated in a few years’ time
It will take around three weeks to remove the connection from Beethovenplein to the cycle path and the path itself. The cycle path will be permanently closed from 1 November. When Habitat Royale and the two Breevast towers have been completed, we will reinstate the cycle route in a slightly different position. This is expected to happen at the end of 2026. Until then, cyclists can use Prinses Irenestraat to travel to and from Beatrixpark and the RAI. There will still be sufficient room for two-way traffic on the cycle path.
