In July 2024, we began work on the landscaping of the public area around Stepstone residential tower and The Pulse of Amsterdam. In order to prepare the area for residential use, we will be working underground, installing drinking water pipelines, a new sewer system and data cables. Above ground, the landscaping of the public space will include road surfacing. The work will be completed by the end of 2024 and much of it will be done on the work site, which will be fenced off, so that any disruption will be minimal. However, additional fencing has been placed in Gustav Mahlerlaan and Clara Schumannstraat (see illustration).
Construction of entrances in Mahlerlaan
The Pulse of Amsterdam is set for completion at the end of this year. In order to enable access to the underground car park, there will be an entrance to the car park next to the Stepstone tower in Mahlerlaan. There will be a second entrance on the other side of Stepstone, leading directly to our construction site. This will allow construction traffic to avoid Clara Schumannstraat, keeping any disruption to the surrounding (office) buildings Hourglass and NoMA House to a minimum. The NoMa House car park will remain accessible throughout the works. The same entrance will continue to be used for further developments in the area, including the construction of the Ceci housing complex.
Minor disruption for cyclists and pedestrians
Work on both entrances will start on 2 September and last until 6 October 2024. In order to create space for the works, ten parking spaces will be temporarily removed. Cyclists and pedestrians on the north side of Gustav Mahlerlaan will be diverted to the other side.
