Crowne Plaza Hotel

In Zuidas, the Crowne Plaza Hotel has been built, an exclusive five-star hotel with around 200 rooms and communal facilities.

The hotel is accessed from Gershwinlaan and has an open façade on Waterplein, with a waterside terrace pointing towards the sun. The hotel has a 9-metre-high plinth that features huge glass sliding doors.

The dark-red brick exterior, balanced spread of windows and brick detailing give the building a sturdy and classic appearance. In the design, all of the façades were given equal attention – the building has no obvious front or back. The large entrance leads into a central mezzanine area that connects the public facilities together and brings daylight into the heart of the hotel. The hotel corridors receive natural light through the windows at the ends of the corridors or via the central mezzanine area. There are tall windows in the rooms, increasing the sense of space.
