1 July: installing sheet piles at Amsterdam Zuid station

While we were monitoring the vibratory insertion of the sheet piles, we noticed instability in metro track M1. In order to complete the sheet-piling work on Saturday, 1 July, the metro track needs to be taken out of service. For this upcoming weekend, GVB already had plans for the southernmost metro track to be out of service. We have therefore obtained permission to continue installing the sheet piles between 07.00 and 19.00 on Saturday, 1 July, after which the track will be repaired. We have arranged the material needed in order to carry out this work.

Loosening the ground with water

While inserting the sheet piles, we will pump water into the ground. This softens the substrate, making pile-driving easier. When repairing the track, we will use a tamping machine that keeps the track in the right place and height. The works may be audible in the local area. We are doing everything we can to keep local disruption to a minimum.

Disruption for passengers

Because of works by the GVB, metro 50 is running a modified service between Isolatorweg and Gaasperplas on 1 and 2 July. Metro 51 (Isolatorweg – Central Station) and metro 53 (Gaasperplas – Central Station) will not be running.
