28-11 to 8-12: tram track maintenance in Parnassusweg

From 28 November until 8 December 2023, the GVB will be carrying out maintenance work on the tram track in Parnassusweg. GVB will be working at night on weekdays and night and day during the weekend from 1 to 4 December. Pedestrians, cyclists and car traffic will experience disruption.

Where in Zuidas

The maintenance work will be on the part of Parnassusweg between Strawinskylaan and Gustav Mahlerlaan. During that period, the transport company is replacing the tram ballast (a bed of broken stones) that helps to absorb vibrations and keep the track stable. They are also replacing a switch on the track next to George Gershwinlaan.

Closed in both directions

During the works, Parnassusweg will be closed to motorised traffic in both directions between Strawinskylaan and Gustav Mahlerlaan. Cyclists and pedestrians will only be able to cross Parnassusweg at Strawinskylaan bridge and Gustav Mahlerlaan. In addition, no trams will be running during that weekend between Amsterdam Zuid station and Parnassusweg. The work may be audible in the immediate vicinity.

When: Tuesday, 28 November to Friday, 8 December
Working times: at night from 01.00 to 05.00

  • Car traffic
    During the works, Parnassusweg will be closed in both directions between Strawinskylaan and Gustav Mahlerlaan. Vehicles will be diverted via Strawinskylaan, Beethovenstraat and De Boelelaan and vice-versa. Gustav Mahlerlaan will remain accessible from De Boelelaan.
  • Pedestrians and cyclists
    It will only be possible to cross Parnassusweg at Strawinskylaan bridge and Gustav Mahlerlaan and nowhere else between these streets.

Weekend
When: between 22.00 on Friday, 1 December and 05.00 on Monday, 4 December
Working times: continuous

  • Car traffic
    During the works, Parnassusweg will be closed in both directions between Strawinskylaan and Gustav Mahlerlaan. Vehicles will be diverted via Strawinskylaan, Beethovenstraat and De Boelelaan and vice-versa. Gustav Mahlerlaan will remain accessible from De Boelelaan.
  • Pedestrians and cyclists
    It will only be possible to cross Parnassusweg at Strawinskylaan and Gustav Mahlerlaan and nowhere else between these streets.
  • Tram
    From 05.00 on Saturday, 2 December until 01.00 on Monday, 4 December, there will be no tram service between Amsterdam Zuid station and the Parnassusweg stop.
