It concerns two double-layer bicycle racks underneath the viaduct (number 1 on the map below), and two parking spaces next to the Hourglass building (numbers 2 and 3 on the map below). One week before the start, staff (‘bike coaches’) will be on hand and there will be signs to indicate that bikes are to be removed. Any bikes that are removed will be taken to the bike depot in Amsterdam.
Extra bicycle parking
The bicycle racks to the side of the Hourglass building will remain in use. Next to them, we will apply road markings to add additional parking places for bikes. In mid-December 2024, the works will have been completed and the bicycle parking places that were removed will be back in use.
Preparations for A10 Zuid tunnel
Until the end of 2024, a lot of work is being done in Parnassusweg, including preparations for the A10 Zuid tunnel. These preparations involve the removal of cables and pipelines that are no longer in use. They include a gas pipeline, a water pipeline, data cabling, old tram cables and a sewer. It is possible that there is still some old sheet piling left in the ground. To find out if this is the case, we are digging test trenches.
The awarding of the contract for the construction of the A10 Zuid tunnel to Van Hattum and Blankevoort is now official. The contract was signed on 3 September 2024. This will be the third Zuidasdok project, alongside the regeneration of Amsterdam Zuid tunnel and the reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer junction.
