Cycle tunnels at RAI get a make-over

The three bicycle tunnels around the RAI are getting a makeover. The tunnel under Europaboulevard will be closed between 30 April and 8 May. A diversion will be put in place for cyclists and pedestrians. The other two tunnels will stay open.

We are going to improve the lighting in the three tunnels, remove graffiti and clean the ceilings. The work will begin on Monday 25 April and be completed by 20 May. Tunnels 867 and 869 (see map) will remain open during the work. Cyclists and pedestrians will be diverted via these tunnels during the work. Tunnel 868, which runs under Europaboulevard and forms a connection between RAI and Kop Zuidas, will be closed completely between 30 April and 8 May. Cyclists and pedestrians can cross Europaboulevard at President Kennedylaan/Europaplein or at De Boelelaan.

Cycle path closed for a few days

Between 9 May and 25 May, excavation work will also take place under the pedestrian and cycle paths on Europaboulevard, near Terrace Tower (head office of Suit Supply). Terrace Tower and Crossover will be connected to an e-house (a switching station for electricity) during that period. The e-house is located on the embankment opposite Terrace Tower. That work will involve laying a cable under the cycle and pedestrian paths. The cycle path will be closed for a few days. Cyclists will be diverted via the Gaasterlandstraat during this period. A sign will be placed showing the exact dates for this. Pedestrians will be able to continue to use the footpath.
