Clearer façade advertising rules for Zuidas

Advertising on buildings in Amsterdam is subject to regulations. These regulations are laid down in the policy document entitled De Schoonheid van Amsterdam (The Beauty of Amsterdam). This currently includes an appendix outlining specific criteria and rules that apply to Zuidas, because the district was previously designated as a zone with a special character (in view of Zuidas’ status as an international business location). However, these supplementary rules for Zuidas no longer reflect the standards we set in Amsterdam for the quality of the public realm. The draft amending decision, open for consultation from 16 February 2023, will ensure that the criteria and rules now reflect the general rules for façade advertising. Supplementary, stricter rules will only continue to apply for Zuidas for the categories ‘visibility criteria’ and ‘light pollution’. This means that there will no longer be a separate appendix to the policy document and all of the rules on façade advertising will be included in the same section. You can submit your response to this draft either in writing or online until 29 March 2023.

Consultation from 16 February to 29 March
