5 April: meeting on regeneration of Amstel interchange

Zuidasdok, one of the Netherlands’ largest infrastructure projects, is widening the A10 Zuid between the De Nieuwe Meer and Amstel interchanges. Local and through-traffic will be separated from each other and the number of lanes increased from 4 to 6 in both directions. None of this will be easy to achieve. So, it makes sense to hold two walk-in meetings at the Mercure City Hotel on Wednesday 5 April.

Our plans for the Amstel interchange

In order to separate the traffic, we will be installing a parallel structure. This will involve building or adapting 23 viaducts, adding new connections, building new bridges across the Amstel and installing noise barriers. We will also be making changes to the local road network in several places. For example, the existing connection for cyclists across the southern Rozenoordbrug bridge will be moved to the new bridge that will be built for the parallel lane. In addition, Ouderkerkerdijk, between the river Amstel and the police academy, will be made into a cycle-only street and changes will also need to be made on Europaboulevard where the traffic lanes connect to the tunnel. In a nutshell, there is a lot set to happen for the Amstel interchange and we intend to talk about it all.

On 5 April, the teams will be ready and waiting at the Mercure City Hotel, in meeting room 10, Joan Muyskenweg 10 in Amsterdam.

Zuidasdok

In addition to the changes to the Amstel and De Nieuwe Meer interchanges, we are also diverting A10 Zuid underground into a tunnel in the centre of Zuidas. The regeneration of the A10 Zuid will ease traffic flow and improve the accessibility of the northern Randstad, the region and Amsterdam itself. In addition, Zuidasdok is also renovating Amsterdam Zuid station, which will include the addition of a second passenger tunnel, Brittenpassage.
