Reminder: A10 Zuid closed in the direction of Schiphol for two weekends

We would like to remind you that the A10 Zuid in the direction of Schiphol and The Hague will be closed from the Amstel interchange to the S108 UMC, location VUmc, access road between 8 and 11 September and between 22 and 25 September. We will be working on the large-scale renovation of Amsterdam Zuid station. At three locations, we will be inserting metres of sheet piling into the ground between the motorway and metro track. In order to ensure road traffic safety, we have been forced to close the A10 Zuid In the direction of Schiphol. One of the metro tracks will also be out of service. This is required in order to make it possible to excavate the second station passageway: the Brittenpassage.

One hour additional journey time

The first weekend closure in September starts on the evening of Friday, 8 September at 22.00 and ends before the morning rush hour at 05.00 on Monday, 11 September. The second weekend closure starts on the evening of Friday, 22 September at 22.00 and ends at 05.00 on Monday, 25 September. Traffic will be diverted via the A1, A9 and A10 Noord (see map). The A10 Zuid in the direction of Hengelo/Utrecht will remain in use throughout both weekends. Although there will be less commuter traffic, drivers should expect significant increases in journey times of up to one hour.

Diversions

From the A10 Noord, the A10 will be closed from the Watergraafsmeer interchange in the direction of A10 Zuid and the A4. Traffic from this direction will be diverted via the A1 and A9. Traffic from the A2 can join the A9 at Holendrecht in the direction of the A4/A10 West, or alternatively use the A10 Oost. Traffic from the A1 has a choice of taking the A10 Noord in the direction of the A5 or the A9 in the direction of Amstelveen/Haarlem. The S111 access road will also be closed and traffic will be diverted locally.

Ask&Go

Drivers can make use of the Zuidasdok Ask&Go service and ask questions about driving and travelling during the works. This can be done in two ways:

  • Scan the QR code

Amsterdam Zuid station will remain accessible by metro, but with a reduced service. Train and bus services will run as normal.

Zuidasdok
The work is part of the Zuidasdok project, involving the widening and undertunnelling of the A10 Zuid and the complete renovation of Amsterdam Zuid station. The construction of the second station passageway, the Brittenpassage, is a crucial step in the process of increasing the capacity of busy Amsterdam Zuid station. After its complete renovation, this station will have passenger numbers similar to those at Amsterdam Central.
