Valley is gradually taking shape – the unique design is increasingly making its mark on the horizon. The Valley Amsterdam construction consortium recently published a video focusing on the building worker.
Zuidas will soon have a new residential neighbourhood: Ravel. Construction is set to start at the end of 2022, but there have been years of preparation leading up to that. As project manager, Monique Soe-Agnie has been very closely involved.
Starting in 2022, a new green, car-free neighbourhood called Ravel will be created in Zuidas, providing 1,350 homes. Most of these will be relatively large, and in the social rental or mid-range rental sectors. They will be located in a park-like setting, with plenty of space for play and recreation.
Valley has now become an unmissable eye-catcher in Zuidas. In mid-June, an extraordinary job was on the schedule. The Valley construction consortium started work hanging and fitting seven large protruding parts onto the building. Our photographer was on hand to capture it.
On 20 March 2020, the City Council approved its policy document (Nota van Uitgangspunten) outlining the basic points of departure for the new layout of the central section of De Boelelaan, between Beethovenstraat and Parnassusweg. This is the first step towards redevelopment.
The builders working on the Valley project are currently working on both the shell of the building and on the interior. ‘Under the current circumstances, it’s pretty remarkable that our team of 150 is still working as normal’, says site manager Ruud van der Thiel.
Along De Boelelaan and next to SC Buitenveldert football club, the Vrije Universiteit (VU Amsterdam) will start construction of a new research building this year. In March and April 2020, we will be doing various works in preparation.
The week of 10 February 2020 sees the start of preparations for the construction of two apartment buildings at Beatrixpark. They will be built on the field between the St. Nicolaaslyceum and the Art Chapel and Convict buildings.
A building that combines living and working with public facilities such as a cinema, bowling alley and cafés and restaurants. That is the concept of VORM Ontwikkeling for a new building on the site between the A10 and the sports fields of SC Buitenveldert.
In Amsterdam, the issue of sustainability really matters. This definitely also applies to Zuidas. In order to be allowed to build or develop in Zuidas, sustainability is one of the key selection criteria. The BREEAM rating (it’s pronounced: brie-am) is an important instrument.
What to do with the public space in three side-streets of the George Gershwinlaan? The residents have been talking about this via an app since April 2018. On 22 September 2018 they gathered in the street and met with the Zuidas designers.
