While we were closed because of coronavirus, model builder Adam Doyce Transue was able to work to his heart’s content updating the model in the Amsterdam Zuidas Information Centre. Why not take a look? You can also drop by in person. Because, the good news is that we have reopened again.
More homes, more local services, more beautiful public spaces and major progress on the new transit hub... The work at Zuidas never stopped for a moment! And all this despite a second year of working from home. With our thanks to all the people who worked on all those construction sites, here’s a look back on all the progress we made in 2021.
This holiday season, the pandemic means that a quick visit to the cinema, the theatre, a cafe or restaurant is off the cards. But if you still feel like getting out and about, why not take a walk around Zuidas? There are two surprising audio tours for you to try, in your own time and at your own pace.
Amazement, surprise and excitement. Many of the people who took part in Open Day in Zuidas, on Saturday, 30 October 2021, could hardly believe their eyes. Despite the turbulent weather, around a thousand people attended at least one of the many activities. And they had a great time.
Building a new station for 250 passengers per day on a site the size of a postage stamp. Building housing for everyone. Making a neighbourhood greener. How do you do all of that? To find the answers to these and other questions, come along to the Open Day in Zuidas on 30 October 2021.
UPDATE: Extra sessions available due to high level of interest. On Saturday 21 August 2021, we will be putting two roof sections into position for the new passenger walkway under Amsterdam Zuid station. The work will be taking place right in the middle of the rail and metro tracks. You can register to watch live. But don’t wait too long – places are limited!
The visual artist Cesare Botti has created an artwork on the wall of the old parking garage of Atrium, opposite hotel INNSiDE. This is a Zuidasdok initiative. Botti’s ‘Mural Carnival’ is temporary: the Brittenpassage will be located here in a few years’ time.
The doors have been closed for months, but it’s finally happened. The Amsterdam Zuidas Information Centre has reopened: from 10:00 and 16:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Of course, the current restrictions still apply.
Outgoing Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen and deputy mayors Victor Everhardt and Egbert de Vries have updated the House of Representatives and Amsterdam City Council on Zuidasdok and the estimated financial shortfall.
The Amsterdam Zuidas Information Centre is expanding – and it’s happening online. A very practical move, especially in these times of coronavirus. But even after that, you’ll still be able to take a crash course on Zuidas from the comfort of your sofa. Of course, it's still always nicer and more educational to pay a visit in person.
From mid-March 2020, the offices in Zuidas were more or less empty. Most schools and amenities were closed. As in the rest of the country, local residents had to adapt their day-to-day lives. But what about the Zuidas builders? They continued their work.
