Hogelandplein in Kop Zuidas – a sneak preview

The local square will be between the architectural masterpiece Terrace Tower (which includes the Suitsupply headquarters) and the SUD apartment building. In 2017, we did the draft design for Hogelandplein and allowed local residents to contribute ideas. People wanted a water feature on the square, somewhere to play for children, sufficient parking for bicycles, and did not want to see cyclists riding across the square. Other requirements included good seating, a safe route from the square to the surrounding paths (to ensure the safety of children playing), and more greenery. Residents would prefer not to have dogs on the square.

Post your reaction

With these wishes in mind, we have made a few changes to the draft design and the result can be seen in the above video. You have until 5 March 2021 to post your reaction to the design directly under this article. We are also organising a telephone consultation hour for you to express your views and ask any questions. It will be from 15.00 to 17.00 on Wednesday, 24 February 2021. The number to ring is 0800 – 5065.

Preparations

Starting on 22 February 2021, work will begin to prepare the square in order to make it greener and give it shape. This is to ensure that Hogelandplein looks attractive even in this temporary situation. The definitive landscaping work is scheduled to start in September 2021. In spite of the preparatory work, changes will still be possible to the design.
