Planned 24-hour shelter in Kop Zuidas scrapped

Update Tuesday, 23 January 2024
As pointed out by an eagle-eyed reader, the map shown previously was incorrect. We have now added a map with the correct division of the plots.

In the Kop Zuidas neighbourhood, the last two plots are being developed over several years: plots K and L2 (see map). For plot K, there were plans for an office building with incubator, with a residential care centre for former homeless people. To allow this to happen, the zoning plan for Kop Zuidas was even revised. It now appears that the area set aside will not have enough space for the planned 30 housing units after all and this is the minimum number that will make the residential care facility affordable. Anything larger would not fit in the zoning plan. However, the programme for plot K will remain the same: i.e. office accommodation and an incubator. There will also be various, smaller (social) amenities relating to care, education, sport, art and culture or community facilities. The exact nature of these will be announced at a later date.

The public tender for the development of plot K is expected to be launched in the spring of 2024.
