On the south side of the A10, along Arnold Schönberglaan, we have set up a shared transport hub. Travellers will be able to use it to access a shared bike, scooter or car. The hub is a pilot and will be here until 2023.
The very last plot in the Mahler neighbourhood, in the heart of Zuidas, will have an office building built on it. By mid-2024, BNP Paribas Nederland, Arcadis and G&S Vastgoed will jointly have a sustainable head office on the plot: CubeHouse. The three parties are developing the building themselves.
It took a while, but the new landscaping of the southern section of Mahlerplein is almost complete. Inappropriately parked scooters and bikes have made way for natural stone and trees. Residents are delighted with the makeover.
Zuid City District is extending the enforcement zone for bikes and scooters parked where it is not permitted. This is partly in response to complaints about parking on the southern section of Mahlerplein. The new rules are expected to apply from May.
Your bicycle will be removed if you leave it in the street. Around Mahlerplein, scooters parked anywhere except within the designated parking spaces will be ticketed and fines will be issued. Amsterdam Zuid local council plans to introduce these rules later this year, following years of complaints.
We are making Claude Debussylaan greener. We are adding some large clay containers full of plants and around 60 natural stone ‘pouffe stools’ where you can sit and enjoy a bite to eat. The work will take two weeks, starting from 16 January 2021.
On 11 January 2021, we began redevelopment work on the southern section of Mahlerplein. Assistant project manager Doeke Brouwers: ‘It marks a great start to the new year and the end result will already be visible by March.’
