In the space of 18 months, The Pulse of Amsterdam has been transformed from a construction pit to an eyecatcher in the making. Alongside the A10, the two towers in this megaproject have shot out of the ground like mushrooms. Time for an update on construction progress.
Starting in September 2023, we will spend a year working on the entrance to the new Ravel residential district: Maurice Ravellaan, with space for pedestrians, cyclists and plenty of green areas. We are also digging an actual canal, complete with bridges to the AFC sports fields.

The Sustainably Accessible Zuidflank Mobility Plan ('Mobiliteitsplan Zuidflank Duurzaam Bereikbaar') was approved in July 2023. This future vision of Zuidas and its surroundings envisages more space for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport – and less for cars. ‘We need a change in the way people travel.’
The evening of Saturday, 5 August 2023 marks the start of the closure of the A10 Zuid, in the direction of Utrecht and Hengelo. The homebase for the emergency helicopter serving Amsterdam UMC, VUmc location, is moving to the western harbour area on 19 July 2023. The helipad on the roof of the VUmc will be maintained for the time being, but the number of flights will be significantly reduced.

On 2 June 2023, Circl brought an end to the programming and room hire in the sustainable pavilion in Gustav Mahlerplein. But Circl is now moving online to take an extra step towards a circular economy. The restaurant and rooftop bar will remain open.
From 5 to 17 June 2023, we are digging test trenches at different locations in Prinses Irenestraat. Our aim is to map out the underground cables and pipelines. Car traffic will be diverted and we expect some noise nuisance.
