In the evenings and nights between 27 and 30 March 2024, there will be works happening along the A10 Zuid in the Utrecht direction. This is expected to cause some disruption to traffic. In the night from Friday, 29 to Saturday 30 March, the S108 access road will be closed.
From April to July 2024, we are working on the metro viaducts across Parnassusweg. We are making preparations to enable the construction of a new viaduct there this summer. During this period, we will be closing the eastern carriageway (in the direction of the city) several times.
The second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station is beginning to take shape. In the space of four months, we have removed huge amounts of sand from underneath the A10, railway and metro tracks and the broad contours of the new passageway are now becoming visible. After years of construction away from public view, the digging has started for the passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station: the Brittenpassage. We are removing 50,000 cubic metres of sand from underneath the A10, metro and railway tracks. And the site is spectacular to behold.
For two weekends in September 2023, there will be major traffic disruption on the south side of Amsterdam. Between 8 and 11 September and between 22 and 25 September, the A10 Zuid in the direction of Schiphol and The Hague will be closed from the Amstel interchange to the S108 VUmc access road.
On the evening of Wednesday, 9 August, it was finally time for the big event: shifting two sections of the roof for the Brittenpassage, the second passenger tunnel at Amsterdam Zuid station, into position millimetre by millimetre. It also attracted a great deal of interest from the press and public.
On 7 and 8 August 2023, dozens of construction workers were working around-the-clock at Amsterdam Zuid station. Preparations were being made to move two huge roof sections for the second passenger tunnel – the Brittenpassage – into position. Take a look at what happened.

The evening of Saturday, 5 August 2023 saw the start of work on the additional passageway at Amsterdam Zuid station. We are doing the work now because the summer is relatively quiet. But for the construction workers, it already feels more like autumn. Our photos below offer an initial impression.

We are currently in the process of partially demolishing the former Atrium car park underneath the A10 Zuid. This work is necessary because this is where the entrance to the additional station passageway – the Brittenpassage – will be. All of the concrete removed will be reused.
Between 5 and 14 August 2023, the A4 and A10 Zuid will be closed for a period of eight days. After that, we will build the A10 back with a small ‘meander’ slightly to the south. This will create space to widen the most southerly railway platform at Amsterdam Zuid station.
