Fans of construction have been regularly monitoring our webcam, which is showing a live feed of the major works underway at Amsterdam Zuid station. At times, there is a noticeable difference in the clothes that the workers are wearing. This is due to the nature of the ground in which we are working.
The owner of the WTC, CBRE IM, has plans to renovate and extend the WTC Amsterdam. A meeting is being held on 11 July 2022 to discuss the plans with local residents. You are welcome to attend in the WTC auditorium.
Work on VU University’s Research Building is progressing very rapidly, and the building’s highest point of 57 metres has now been reached. That means the initial phase of construction for this special building in the Kenniskwartier is now complete. One section of the building will be vibration-free.
Later in the year, construction work is expected to start on Well House, one of the world’s tallest wooden office towers. We talked to offices investment company NSI about the design, wooden construction, working in a post-Covid era and even about 'spekkoek' (a type of layered cake).
The new exterior of EDGE Stadium, former headquarters of Loyens & Loeff, is more or less complete. As a result, the characteristic copper heart of the building in Fred. Roeskestraat is suddenly behind a transparent façade.

For the time being, Tram 25 will continue to have its start and end stops in Strawinskylaan. Despite the original plan, the temporary tram terminus in Eduard van Beinumstraat will not be happening. Later this year, the platform will be widened and the crossing on Strawinskylaan improved.
In 2025, one of the tallest wooden office buildings in the world will be created at the end of the future Maurice Ravellaan. Its name: Well House. Listed office investor NSI has contracted JP van Eesteren for the development of this imposing tower.
Since the summer of 2021, the Kenniskwartier (or ‘Knowledge District’) has been building what should become the centrepiece of this new neighbourhood: The Pulse of Amsterdam. There’s not much to see at street level at the moment, but the contractors are already putting the finishing touches to the foundations below the ground.
Train passengers at Amsterdam Zuid station are getting some extra space on platforms 3 and 4. We will be working on this over the weekends of 4 March and 11 March 2022. That extra space is certainly needed now that more people are starting to use the train again.
Housing is to be built on the plot between the offices of AkzoNobel and Stibbe, the St. Nicolaaslyceum school and Kapel & Convict. The tender procedure for this plot was launched on 16 February 2022. Interested developers can submit proposals.
