13 March: meeting about De Nieuwe Meer junction

In 2024, the reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer junction will move from the drawing boards and meeting rooms into the open air. An amazing number of things are set to happen in 2024, including the creation of work sites and the start of construction of two new bridges across the river Schinkel. There will also be a flyover above the A10 Zuid. In the years after that, activities will include works on Amstelveenseweg under the A10 Zuid. At times this will cause some considerable disruption, such as when we will be temporary closing Amstelveenseweg in the summers of 2025, 2026 and 2027.

We will keep you informed of all of this (and more) on this website and via  letters to residents (see below). We are also regularly organising walk-in meetings, including on Wednesday, 13 March in the auditorium of the Buitenveldert Roman Catholic Cemetery (RK Begraafplaats Buitenveldert).

Creation of construction roads and work sites in 2024

After the TriAX Construction Consortium (Besix, Dura Vermeer and Heijmans) have created the space needed by removing trees and plants, the construction roads and work sites will start in June and July. For the delivery of materials, the motorways and new construction roads will be used as much as possible. These will form a bypass: construction traffic will enter the work site on one side and leave it via the other side. This is quite a lot safer.

Further works in 2024

When the construction roads and work sites are in place, the various works can then start. On the north side of the A10 Zuid, between Amstelveenseweg and Jachthavenweg, we will be placing cable ducting into the ground. Cables and pipelines will later be fed through this. We are also starting the construction of the new access road leading from the s108 Amstelveenseweg to the A10 Zuid In the direction of the A4/Schiphol; in order to make space for the northern tunnel for the A10, we are moving this from one side of Amstelveenseweg to the other.

From rush-hour Lane to permanent carriageway

At the end of June, after the early preparations, we will be converting the rush-hour lane on the A10 in the direction of Utrecht/Hengelo into a permanent carriageway. At the end of this year, we will also start to build two new movable bridges: one on the north side and one on the south side of the existing Schinkelbrug. Preparations for construction of the new flyover that connects the A10 Zuid to the A4/Schiphol will also start this year. At the same time, we will begin to widen the viaduct across Piet Kranenbergpad.

2025-2027: Amstelveenseweg closures
