This holiday season, the pandemic means that a quick visit to the cinema, the theatre, a cafe or restaurant is off the cards. But if you still feel like getting out and about, why not take a walk around Zuidas? There are two surprising audio tours for you to try, in your own time and at your own pace.
In the weekend of 18 and 19 December 2021, we installed the final two switches in the metro tracks. At the same time, 1,000 sq. m. of floor was replaced from the removable railway platform for tracks 1 and 2. The work went smoothly.
From 22 July until 3 August 2022, major traffic disruption is expected on the south side of Amsterdam. Throughout these 11 days, the A4 and A10 Zuid will be closed from the Badhoevedorp junction to the S109 RAI access road. This is because of works on Amsterdam Zuid station.
On 2 December 2021, the North Sea Canal Area Environmental Service (‘Omgevingsdienst Noordzeekanaalgebied’) granted the environmental permit for the renovation work on Amsterdam Zuid station. The permit will be open for consultation until 14 January 2022.
Next to Beethovenstraat, a new switch was added to the metro tracks during the weekend of 4 and 5 December 2021. This was the third weekend in which we have been installing new switches. We also replaced the temporary platform that serves railway tracks 3 and 4.
In the weekend of 13 and 14 November 2021, we installed two additional switches in the metro tracks. These will enable metro trains to switch from one track to another. We need to do this to make it possible to have a larger work site, on which to build new roof sections for two passageways.
The Zuidasdok meetings scheduled for 24 and 25 November about the De Nieuwe Meer and Amstel interchanges will not go ahead. Because of the stricter coronavirus restrictions, we will be unable to organise these physical meetings in a responsible way.
The Zuidasdok programme includes some major work on the De Nieuwe Meer and Amstel interchanges. We are organising meetings to inform you about this on Wednesday 24 and Thursday, 25 November 2021. They will also include information about other Zuidasdok projects.
Starting on Thursday, 4 November 2021, train passengers at Amsterdam Zuid station can expect works on the platforms. Over approximately five days, we will be reinforcing the removable platform sections next to the second station passageway we are building.
Amazement, surprise and excitement. Many of the people who took part in Open Day in Zuidas, on Saturday, 30 October 2021, could hardly believe their eyes. Despite the turbulent weather, around a thousand people attended at least one of the many activities. And they had a great time.
Until the end of 2021, we are working on the metro tracks from Amsterdam Zuid station to just past RAI. We are adding five switches. This will cause some disruption. The work is required in order to create a larger work site between the metro tracks at Amsterdam Zuid station.
The new Amsterdam Zuid station not only needs to be attractive, it also has to be a safe environment for passengers and passers-by. That means it must meet fire safety standards. ‘The aim is to rule out as many fire risks as possible and always enable an effective evacuation route.’
